The Ogun State command have arrested members of a kidnap syndicate the suspect which are Nathaniel Jacob, Isah Daniudi and Abubakar Rabiu were arrested along Fidiwo area of Lagos Ibadan expressway.
In a statement made by the police public relation officer Abimbola Oyeyemi, he said that ”the arrest followed a tip-off they had received from some hunters who had sighted the suspect in the bush where they were planning on how to strike l”. According to the PPRC, he said that the hunters alerted the police who quickly railed out the so-state corps and the hunters group and they stormed the Fidiwo Alapako bush.
On seeing the police the suspects took to their heels but three of them were subsequently apprehended while three ran away with their arms.
During the preliminary investigation,, the arrested suspects said that ” they’ve been hiding in the bush for the past ten days due to the heavy presence of the police in the stretch of the expressway”. The arrested suspects also disclosed that the gang was made up of six members but three escaped with their arms. Among the items recovered from them were cutlasses which they claimed were seized from farmers in their farms.
The PPRO added further that the commissioner of police Edwin Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the anti-kidnapping unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligent unit for further investigation.
The CP also assured the members of the public that all the kidnap cases in the state will not go unsolved as the command is working to bringing perpetrators to book.
